Expanding on my prior post, I have a BIG favor to ask of some helpful soul
on this list. In fact I've posted this request to a couple of lists because
finding somebody with just the right configuration may be tough.

I have an Apple Rommed Panasonic/Mitsushiti LF-D211A, 4.7 GB DVD-RAM drive
Type II (Atapi) that works perfectly well when hooked up to the main ide bus
of an Apple G4. But I need to hook it up to an IDE PCI card on another
Desktop Mac. When I hook it up to my VST ATA/66 Ultratek card, it gives me
the message that "This Drive is Locked" when attempting to copy anything to
the DVD-RAM disk, run a utility, or format a disk. It mounts and copies data
from cd's & dvd's to my hard drive just fine, but not the other way around.
I have loaded every piece of software I can think of for driver purposes,
but to no avail. The drive remains locked when hooked to this ide card
whether on my G3 s900 or on an Apple G4.

Clearly the VST card is incompatible with the DVD-RAM drive which came as an
option on many G3's and G4's. So I need to find another card brand that
will work. If anybody on this list has this model or similar DVD/RAM
drive, PLEASE, can you tell me if it has worked properly on your PCI IDE
card? Or for anybody with one of these drives who will soon be working
inside your unit, if you could hook it up to your pci card (assuming you
have one), and let me know off-list if it functions properly or not? I
would greatly GREATLY appreciate the help!

I have contacted both ACARD and Sonnet and neither company could tell me if
they are compatible. I'd prefer to know what works before I go out and buy
one new card after another to find out.

Thank you for your help.
