Re ; firmare may be a possable, I have a G4 350 sawtooth, and updated its
firmware often, I also have both the sets of disks that came included with
the computer,and also retail copy purchased earlier,after owning my machine
awhile it would no longer reload from the included software but loaded
easily with the retail version.I dont know exactly why,perhaps even
scratches on the disks? though i see none,but it does happen.so its not your
imagination, hope this helps
