Showering the keyboard with warm or cool water (not hot or very cold) should
be enough, specially when you're dealing with spilled cola (not dust and
dirt) let it dry AT LEAST 48 hours (I usually put it near a source of heat
(like a heater), summer is the best time to do it, for up to four days
without even testing it) turn it over within a day or so, change position, it
should work fine, I've done it numerous times including with an old Mac Plus
keyboard, all went well. Use blow dryer on Low/Warm setting if necessary.

I have a cat, she has yet not done anything like that. There's a window
within a foot from my mac, she looks out the window practically all day, and
I drink soda practically all day (cans however). I love animals, I keep
books about animals ancient & contemporary history (did you know egyptians
used to worship cats centuries ago thinking they were gods?) well my cat has
yet not erased my mac. In the cat history book it says, a cat was left alone
in a government facility, it somehow erased the whole mainframe computer
packed with millions of dollars worth of info (whoa! clever cat, she even
knew the password!), they don't say, however, what the government did with
the cat (animal shelter maybe) ;) When cats (or dogs) are left alone they
can do really unexplainable things like that one for example. Mine has
shutdown the mac a thousand times :)
