I use a D-Link DI-704, a hub or two, and an old GV 56k modem.  Works 
fine and does NOT require me paying 1.) the energy bill for a dedicated 
system to be the soft router and 2.) attention to who's running what OS 
(or hardware).  Completely user transparent.  A good $40 solution.
