Hello, I've recently (Thursday) installed OS X and am being driven nuts by two things:
1. the keyboard menu (International preferences pane) doesn't remember its setting between restarts. I accidentally selected Canadian as my keyboard language when I installed OS X and cannot get rid of it (forgetting that Canadian-anything in Apple speak means either French or ****ed up, even in OS X... why can't Apple get it through their thick skulls that Canadians are neither Americans nor Europeans (we need the $ currency setting and US keyboard layout, but don't need m/d/y nonsense & confusion)). What happens when I select the US layout in Int'l prefs & *deselect* the Cdn layout the #$!# thankfully disappears. However, through two restarts that preference hasn't stuck. Why would a *clean* and recent install of OS X (10.2.3, *all* updates applied) not remember preferences between restarts? 2. dial-up aggrevations: when I have PPP set to automatically connect to the web it is *constantly* connecting, regardless of whether I'm actively browsing (all I have to do is have a web browser open). Anyone encountered that? Sincerely, Eric. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
