Is this the installer application on the 880 CD that gives you this
message, or does it install and then say this after you try to run the
Epson print center? If it is after installation, try deleting the old
drivers (search for Epson in the Library folder) and re-install.

Incidentally, the Epson 820 software works great in Jag with my iBook.
It's the printer itself that sucks -- has to be the worst printer I've
ever owned. Just a tiny bit of dust gets on the tip of the completely
inaccessible paper feeder, and when it "pops" forward to push the page
into position, the page loads, but not far enough, so the top margin is
always off by about an inch (if it even feeds at all). This "popping"
method of loading paper doesn't seem to be as effective as the more
relaxed manner in which HP inkjets load (but the HP mechanisms seem to
be fond of picking up several sheets at once).

On top of that, if I don't print for a week or so, the nozzles get all
dried up, so I have to clean them several times (waste a ton of ink in
the process), and print several long documents before they all get back
to normal. Then blots sometimes appear on printouts, the ink
cartridges cost a fortune to replace, and...

Ok, enough of my bitching -- the printer came free (rebate) with the
iBook, but I sure can't wait to get a new laser printer in a few months
(my old laser didn't have USB, so I had to depart with it after 6 years
of perfect reliability).
