G'day Mark The installer leaves the Jag disk/partition as the startup destination, even though you might not have actually installed it. This destination is burnt into the Pram.
When it's successfully finished, you need to set the Jag Startup Disk system preferences panel to Jag itself, re-boot into Jag, then set 9.2.2 as the startup disk, if that's what you prefer. If you don't do this, you may keep booting back into Jag, even though you set 9.2.x as the startup. This set-Jag-&-re-boot step re-burns the Pram. You also need to start Classic from Jag, as it modifies Classic when first run. If the installer did not finish, you need to zap Pram to clear the startup destination. A better way... if you want 9.2.x, don't EVER set it from Jag, but just hold down the option key on booting. Also... you should obtain the System Disk control panel for 9.2.x, and use it to get back into Jag after a Pram Zap. The normal Startup Disk panel is useless. It does not have to go in the Control Panels folder, but ONLY works from 9.2.x. I think the 4 Gig is greyed out because Jag requires a minimum size. The Installer tells you zilch. Jag, on older G3's, must be on the first 8 Gig or less partition. You can minimize the Jag install by optionally de-selecting all or most languages, and only installing the printer drivers you will really need. Regards Santa And what, you ask, was the beginning of it all? And it is this......
