Hello

I sort of have this right now.
I have two racks. One rack has 10 Mac Servers running thur a 3Com
Switch.
The other rack, which is not hooked up yet, has 5 Pc's , running Win 2K
server, with just a plain out 12 port hub running into them.

My question is this, can I run the one hub, 3Com Switch..into my ADSL
modem? Is this possible? Do I need some type of "dog tail" , (lack of
better terms there), to hook two into one.

I never knew this but most DSL providers have upscale options. I just
upscaled to 8mb down and 4 to 6 mb up. I had no idea ADSL could handle
this speed.

Anyway..any ideas?

Thanks

Subject: Cross platform networking question

We are getting ready to move our store and have 2 seperate networks now
with 4 Macs and 5 pcs.

One is an Appletalk over Localtalk cabling (mostly used for sending
small
files, under 100k and printing, it is a hold over from IIsi days, but
it
works and I didn't want to pull new cable). The systems are all beige
G3s
running 9.2

The other is a standard TCP/IP windows with an NT 4 server (I do have
2000
server, I just haven't installed it) with primarily win 98 clients.

A couple of questions:

1) Can I use the same Hub/switch (say a 16 port) for the apple network
as
the win network?

2) our current net connection is through a dialup. When we get a high
speed
(dsl) connection, can we just plug the router into this hub and use it
for
the connection to the net?

besides the standard security issues with wintel, is there anything else
I
need to watch out for?

Thanks,

Len
