Hello,

I'm a new subscriber myself, I just got my Beige G3 233 Desktop this
week. I've been going to post pretty much the same questions myself,
but I haven't had the time.

I got an XLR8 USB card / scroll mouse combo off eBay to use in a
7300/180, only to find it was annoyingly slow and jerky in that
machine. I transplanted it to the G3 yesterday - the performance is
ok so far (it's a university auction machine, I need to wipe the
drive and do a clean install), but it still doesn't match the
performance of the standard ADB mouse that came with the G3.

I have some additional questions for the list:

I have a 40 gig Maxtor Ultra ATA/100 7200 RPM hard drive that didn't
work well with our Linux/Windows box (the motherboard didn't like it,
so the machine bogged down). Will this work in my G3? If not, then
what kind of hard drive will?

I was told by a fellow auction winner that you can run OS 10.2 Jaguar
on these machines as is (mine has 192 megs of ram). Any commentary
on this?

I've noted some references to G3's and "revision 2 roms". I know
what roms are (though not where they go in a G3), could someone brief
me on what the revision 2 roms change?
