I agree with those who have said to go with the HTML. I can't imagine all of
you who seem so confident with the techie innards of your Macs would be
scared off by HTML (I've been learning C and C++ and I think that is scary
-- give me HTML any day).

Some very good web tutorials can be found at webmonkey
(http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/).  For a simple site, why mess with
the more advanced stuff? Plus, when you do get around to indulging in
something like Dreamweaver you'll be able to use it much more productively
if you understand the coding.

For a long time I just did HTML in Simple Text (as someone suggested).
BBEdit is nice because it color-codes stuff, making it easier to find
errors. Now that I've got my paws on Dreamweaver, I am happy to go to town
on it (let the editor make the Java!) But for just text, a few tables, some
pictures, there's nothing easier (or less expensive) than Simple Text and
html.
