It sounds as if he may have created the CD in a way that did not "close" it
off or "finalize". If you are in windows and you use drag and drop to write
to a CD I *think* there is a way to make it readable by other devices before
or while you "eject" it which also results in the CD no longer being
writable (you can't write any more files to it). But I doubt you'll find a
way to read it without a pc if this is the case.
