Depends on your needs.

If you want to use iDVD, Apple's popular osX video DVD production tool, you'll
need a 'superdrive' or the program won't run.  Superdrive is a Pioneer DVR-103,
105 or 105 or any of the consumer versions (the same drive with a different
number and a pretty box.)  The drive must be mounted on the internal ATA bus.

These are available for under $300 and need not be bought from Apple.  I use one
in my Beige minitower.  If I remember correctly, iDVD wants to see a G4
processor, but that may not be required.

Also be sure you know the difference between DVD-R and DVD-Ram.
