I have been hearing (on this list) about the problem with some Rams being too tall to fit under the G3 Drive Platform. I inherited a pair of 256's out of an old PC, and yes they were too tall. Closer inspection showed that the reason they were too tall was because the grate over the power supply fan is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch lower than the rest of the drive platform. So I cut out the grate, and now the rams fit, and voila, my system reports 768mB! I just have to be careful not to stick my fingers in the fan if I have it running in open position, which is rare. NOW to figure out how to (nicely) cut out the faceplate on the case so I can stuff more things like my JAZ drive and a removable drive housing, in there! Since I run in OS X on that machine, I pulled the useless floppy drive out, and have all kinds of room behind the fixed part of the faceplate.
