Sorry about the slow delay, but somehow your post slipped past my 
notice.

If you can't delete the file due to it's preference settings, then 
select the file and hit Command-i (the 'Get info' keys)

In the dialog box, click on the arrow alongside 'Ownership & 
Permissions'.

If the padlock shows as locked, then click on it. If a new box pops up 
asking for authorization, you need to fill in your password.

With the padlock unlocked, try altering the 'Owner'  & 'Group' boxes 
until they show  Your Name (Me)  as the owner, and Staff (Me) as the 
group

ex.  Owner      Santa (Me)

         Group      staff (Me)

Also, set Access to  both to 'Read & Write'

Hopefully you should now be able to remove and eventually trash the 
file.
