Last week I had a problem with a new ATA133 disk as a slave in an AGP G4/400.
I returned the disk to the retail outlet and got a replacement which is now working perfectly. Thank you to those that suggested solutions. Until now, I was convinced that a 'Dead On Arrival' disk (or in my case, dead soon after arrival) was an urban myth, but it seems that it can in fact happen.
