thanks for the reply - that was one of my first thoughts as the burner in this thing is pretty fast. i've checked the disks though and they should be cool - they're sony disks guaranteed for 1x to 24x
from the replys i'm getting back from another os x list, it seems to be a problem with the burner itself.
major pain, don't want to send the machine back to apple 'cos we need it all the time - but we also really need the cd burner! don't think apple are gonna accept the drive back without the machine...
If you haven't tried burning at a lower speed, give it a try before sending the burner back.
