I think so; and as has already been mentioned, you can get
Retrospect Express pretty cheaply.

Carbon Copy Cloner, and similar copy-everything-over strategies
are pretty primitive. They're OK in the event of a catastrophic
failure or when you immediately know some data has been lost; but
what happens if something goes bad and you don't notice it right
away? The cloner/copier will continue doing its thing and copy
the bad file(s) over the good ones--and *poof* there goes your
backup!

Retrospect will keep multiple versions of changed files, so you
can recover previous versions. So if a file gets corrupted and
you don't immediately notice it, or you just want to go back to
last weeks' version, you can do it.

Backing up everything takes more time and media (especially if
you want multiple copies/versions). Retrospect supports both
modes--you can do full or incremental backups. Dantz (and
most people who are serious about backups) recommends a blend
of both strategies: do frequent incremental backups and
periodic full backups.

That's something that Retrospect does very well.
