I don't remember if this unit has a VGA or an old Apple monitor connection. VGA 
monitors support a serial protocol that communicates the monitor capability to the 
computer. Some apple monitors did the same thing using ADB. If the monitor is when the 
computer boots it will default to low resolution mode which is safe for old low 
resolution diaplays.
