Thanks for the info. Any chance there's a ROM upgrade for previously unsupported models in the KB? If not, your point sounds like it might be the stopper, although I don't understand your point about the drivers not loading, as the target Mac is always started first - if there were a way to power it on.
If not, I guess I'm looking at a Firewire enclosure for the drive and then to "part out" ol' beige. Any other ideas out there? Tom Marc replied to question below with: Target Disk Mode won't work at all on your Beige since you have a FireWire PCI card installed so the drivers have to be loaded first to enable FireWire. And the Target Disk Mode isn't built-in your firmware yet. Check Apple's knowledgebase if you want info about which Macs support this mode. For one thing, how > would I even turn the target G3 on (first), > without a power key on a dedicated keyboard? Andrew replied to question above with: I can't see why this wouldn't work. There must be a way to turn it on without a keyboard. I'm intrigued: would this be faster or more effective than a firewire external HD? Reply to Andrew: Good question - I think Target Disk Mode is faster but not sure. Tom -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
