Yes, (probably). Just about any hard drive will work in a Beige G3. >Or does these come in different sizes (the casing, that is)? I have a pile of old (aprox 8x13x2,5 cm) Mac drives laying around and they are all pretty standarlized: the same screws for the mounting, the same plug. Are these IDE's? > Physically, all drives are (now) a standard size (except ones for laptops). If it's not obvious otherwise, look at the pins where the data cable connects. An IDE will have 39 or 40 pins (in two rows). A SCSI comes in various varieties, but has at lest 50 pins. There will probably be some jumper pins nearby, which set master/slave/cable for IDE, or the SCSI ID for SCSI. (So if there's anything about master or slave on a label, you have an IDE.) A SCSI FAQ is at <http://scsifaq.org:9080/scsi_faq/> Generally, the way to find out about a drive is to type the model number into Google, and look for hits on the site of the manufacturer. (Though as drive companies have been consolidating, you may find it takes a while to dig up the specs on hardware from more than a couple of years ago.) -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
