I am helping a neighbor to upgrade his B/W G3/300 to something a little faster/ He has 464 MB RM. Apple 17" Monitor and is running OS 9.2.2.
I Thought that a Sonnet G3/500 card which would give him a choice. He mostly uses MS Excel, Work 98 and imports and pictures from his digital Camera does a lot of email and some internet searches. He has Photoshop Elements, but is not very versed in using it other than resizing or change image format.
I would like to get the list's input concerning pros & Cons to this choice and any potential problems.. thank you for any advice
Russell
I would find a 350mhz ZIF from someone who is upgrading a 350mhz PM G# B+W. Then you can overclock it to 400mhz, and while this may not seem a huge upgrade, it does not cost much at all, and you are going from 512kb to 1mb L2 cache which will aid things as well. A 350mhz ZIF should not cost you that much all, definitely not over $40 and most likely lower...
Just my few cents,
