beige g3 has sleep/freeze problem

Hello -  recently I started having a problem with my Gossamer G3, 
running OS 9.2.2, Ram 384 and an upgrade to 466 mhz.  Quite often 
when it comes out of sleep all the windows go blank after half a 
second or so (the windows are still there but there is nothing but 
white in them), the mouse moves but nothing happens when I click it. 
It is perplexing to me because it started during a time when I was 
just using the computer for basic stuff (internet, email, and word 
processing) - not installing or changing anything.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem would be appreciated.
