That's just it --- Macs didn't come with IDE controllers on the motherboard
as fast as ATA-66 until the Sawtooth G4 models. B & W Macs are I suppose only
ATA-33.

Beige G3s ... Bus 0 = EIDE (16.67 MB/sec); Bus 1 = EIDE (16.67 MB/sec)

B&W G3s ... Bus 0 = UATA/33 (33 MB/sec); Bus 1 = EIDE (16.67 MB/sec)

Early G4s ... Bus 0 = UATA/66 (66 MB/sec); Bus 1 = EIDE (16.67 MB/sec)

Later G4s ... Bus 0 = UATA/100 (100 MB/sec); Bus 1 = EIDE (16.67 MB/sec)

Note that that bus which was intended for slow, "demountable" media, CDs and
Zips, e.g., was kept as EIDE, whereas that bus which was intended for fast,
"nondemounable" media, hard drives, e.g., got the speed boost.
