I recently got a Sawtooth G4 350 which I have so far upgraded with 1Gb ram and a 60Gb HD.
Never having a DVD player or drive before I am wondering how I can find out what zone my DVD drive supports?
I have removed the drive and check the stickers on it to see if it says there but to no avail.

Any help on this matter appreciated.

P.S. It is running OSX 10.2.6. and has 9.2.2 running on the 10Gb original drive.

You can switch Zone encoding on your DVD rom drive 5 times, after which it stays at the last setting.

You can defeat region locks <http://www.wormintheapple.gr/macdvd/faq.html#5>

(Damned fascists...The ONLY reason that Region encoding was forced on us is because the DVD Forum capitulated to the demands of the Chinese government for control over what can be played in their country.

Note that China, of all the regions, is the only one with a single political entity. There's is no earthly commercial advantage in restricting what a consumer can watch on their own player...the companies selling the DVD's sell one whether it's region 1,2 or anything...all that region encoding does is make their production and distribution network much more complicated; instead of one SKU per title, they have to maintain 7.)
