RE; Ive a question, when The G4 was first introduced there were constraints about their export outside the USA, is that still a problem or something long ago solved?
Soon after the G4 was released the official specification of 'supercomputer' as it pertains to export restrictions was ratcheted up quite a bit, as it (obviously) hadn't been updated in quite a while, since the early 80's iirc.
But it was cool for those first few months to claim that you had a 'restricted munition' for a computer ;-P
That said, it's entirely a moot point, as perfectly serviceable supercomputers can be built from commodity personal computers these days. (and the *only* thing that our export restrictions on such technology ever got us was getting passed over in the market by manufacturers from countries without such restrictions, and the subsequent decline of the industry here in the US.)
