A few weeks ago, Apple Canada dropped their prices on everything at the Apple Store. The reason being the US dollar had fallen so much, if you bought a Dual 1.42GHz PowerMac from the Canada Store, you were paying almost $1000 CD more than if you bought the same machine from the us store. I don't know if that's why there doing it in Australia, but it seems plausible.

G'day from the land of Oz.

Great news about the G5's, but I wonder what else is in store for us.

Today I got a promo email from an Aussie store, NextByte ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ). They stated that Apple (presumably only Australia) is offering an 'up to $600 rebate' on flat panels (no mention of it on the Apple stores site). A 23" panel retails for Aus $4096, so it's a reasonable amount off.

Apple Oz don't offer many deals, so I'm wondering what's going on. A soon-to-be-announced drop in overall prices is my guess, and perhaps the 30" panel touted a few months ago is on the horizon. Or, they're overstocked, and upgraded models are on the way.

Any other guesses as to the motivation?

Regards

Santa
