I am swapping drives on the cube. We were getting odd stuff and so thought we'd do this. The day came and it wouldn't boot, or recognize HD from CD. Later it wouldn't even chime. [insert long exhausting trauma here/] Cut to the end--took out the battery, put it back in and it works.
I partition and install OSX in my new drive. Now all of my other partitions (OS9, documents etc) can be replicated by backup files. However, when it comes to my OSX partition, I do not want to use carbon copy cloner because I would rather have a clean install. The machine was buggy to begin with.
So Q: WHAT DOCUMENTS CAN I SUCCESSFULLY TRANSFER TO THE OSX PARTITION?
I was guessing that I want to transfer the applications, the user folder and the library folder. Will this work? Will my applications be missing invisible files? Will the library be missing invisible files? Does Apple have any official advice or forethought on this?
