As a designer, publisher and DBA I will say this: I have 6 computers at home without floppies. I actually make it a point to remove them from the PCs and the legacy Macs. Why? because I have a network here with one computer that DOES have a floppy: My firewall/testing server. I pop the floppy in, it loads up and with AFP I can load up the data on it. Or if it is a windows disk I can load it up the same way. Universal support from an 'unsupported' OS.

As for when I get them, I charge my clients more. Why? Well, if you cannot adjust to the times and spend $50 on a CDRW and $2 on a RW disc I shouldn't have to deal with a comparably unstable form of media. If you cannot step out of the ice age and into the bronze age you should pay! It takes me longer to do something because of the access speeds of disks, the poor quality of them and all the other issues that come from floppies.

A word from the Publishing and Graphics side about floppies.
I still get floppies from clients. Floppies are alive and well.
