Radeon PCI 7000

I been following discussion on upgrading video card to a Radeon PCI 
7000. I have been considering that option also. I have a G4/400 
sawtooth with the original video card. Will  the Radeon PCI 7000 make a 
significant improvement in performance. I do use Photoshop Elements a 
lot in my Genealogy research. Also I was told by a sales person at a 
dealer of Apple Products that the Radeon PCI  8500 and 9000 would also 
work, but it  would not have power to the contacts to run the Flat 
monitors.

I am running OS 10.2.6 and 9.2.2 (which I am almost converted to all OS 
X except for a scanner). Any clarification of the issues mentioned 
would be appreciated.
