But OS X did not take "the floppy away," nor has Apple "dropped support for floppies." When I needed to bring in data from a disk someone at my wife's school gave her, the USB floppy (that she has used a few times) I plugged into my machine running OS X was recognized and worked fine with zero problems and no effort over plugging in the cable.
