Apple doesn't build floppies into their computers anymore - which is
fine with me. I haven't used the floppy on my 6100 (now working as a server)
in years. But OS X did not take "the floppy away," nor has Apple "dropped
support for floppies." When I needed to bring in data from a disk someone at
my wife's school gave her, the USB floppy (that she has used a few times) I
plugged into my machine running OS X was recognized and worked fine with
zero problems and no effort over plugging in the cable.

Just so folks know that you can use a floppy if you need to.
