When is NVIDIA going to pop out $60.00 G-Force cards for Mac like they do for the PC!!!

I live
in Toronto, I am a proud Canadian, but really I have to stand frim on this. ATI video is the pits. I am not going to fork out $350 for a top notch ATI 9XXX when I can pick up a $60 NVIDA that has better driver support and more Game FPS. (ATI is a Canadian Company) I don't want to start a video card FLAME, IMHO ATI has the best bios but the driver support is so-so and Game FPS is all that is important to me being an avid Half-Life CStrike player.

Then buy a PC for games and be done with it. :-/ I mean it's a cheap system to set up and if all you do is play games on it you won't notice windows all that much anyway...view it as a game console rather than a computer. Use the Mac for real computer work :-P

The truth is, that if you want to upgrade a Mac with only PCI slots for video the Radeon is the only game in town.

Thank You for the Video Card reviews.

Well maybe someone could start selling a 1 Gig G3 ZIF upgrade cheap!!! hint - hint xlr8, sonnet, etc, etc. Maybe they will release a DP G5 upgrade for the B&W :-)

There are hardware limits to the speed that ZIF chips can go. That's why, for example, that Sonnet used tp sell a 1Ghz upgrade for the old PCI macs, but not the Beige or B&W G3 machines; you're limited by the motherboard to certain bus/processor speed ratios, and there's no way to add the needed circuitry to the ZIF to handle the higher ratios needed.

With the old processor cards or the newer processor cards on the AGP G4 macs you can, which is why they offer the faster processors on those.

Sonnet has just cracked that problem, apparently, with their new Encore G4/1000 upgrade, but at $600 there's just no WAY it's worth the cost, not when I can find actual G4 systems for not a lot more than that, with a faster system all around and more upgrade potential.

They'll likely come down in price, but I'm going to wait and see what happens to the market when the G5 starts shipping.
