Some on please correct me but... I thought the G3 1.1f4 firmware had a G4 block in the bios... The firmware needs a "patch". To the best of my knowledge the sonnet and NewerTech G4 upgrades have a firmware patch to overcome the G4 block.

Am I right or wrong on this one?

Hello listers,

Can I take a zif processor (400) from a G4 and put it in my B&W G3 350? I
know that upgrades from XLR8 or Sonnet have jumpers attached to the
processor that need to be switched, but this processor won't. I'm thinking I
should just be able to install the new processor and set the motherboard
jumpers to 400Mhz as if I was overclocking my G3. Does this sound right?

Second, will the heat sink in my G3 be adequate for the G4 processor? A
friend told me that his G4 upgrade had a fan, since the G4 heats up more
than the G3. I'd hate to burn out the processor because my heat sink wasn't
up to par.

Thanks for any help.
