my machine is similiar. (300 @ 416, 256mb, 1x6gb ide, 1x9gb scsi, USB,
FireWire, Pci Video card, os9.2.2) But I do not have anything plugged into a
the serial port.  When I hit the power, the chime is about 2 seconds after,
and about 20 seconds after that the display comes on.  And I don't have a
problem with that at all..  I assumed it was the board doing various POST
related things.
