GigE Ram Maximum

I had 1 gig of RAM (two 512 sticks) in my G4 GigE and I got a good 
deal on two more 512 sticks.  I put them in and "About This Mac" 
shows 2 gig and the System Profiler in Jaguar shows all four sticks. 
BUT, the info on the LEM page for GigE's says that 1.5 gig of RAM is 
the max.  What's the scoop?  Does the fourth stick work or not, even 
though the Profiler says it's there?
