thanks to you out there who got back to me re the ichat test.

went pretty well! i was really impressed with the quality, sounds somewhere
in between a mobile and a land line.

one thing to watch out for, not sure if this is absolutely the case but it
could save hours of frustration! the plaintalk mic that comes with mac's has
a longer minijack that other microphones. the reason for this is it
activates a onboard amplifier on the mac's motherboard that amps up the mic.

i'm guessing if you are using a standard external mic that it has to be a
powered or self amplify mic. don't know if a griffin imic may help this
out??

anyways, thanks again - theres a couple of you who've got back today, i'll
add you to my budy list and anytime you fancy giving me a call to test it
out, go for it!
