Hi all; As the old saying goes, time to fall back and regroup. First of all, the RageII+DVD graphic chip is a 1st Rev.G3 MOBO, it won't support slave drives with the Rev.1 ROM chip. My G3MT has a Rev.1 MOBO with a Rev.3 Rom chip so I have slave support. From your message, I see you have 2 drives on one bus. That won't work. To get slave support on a 1st REV. G3 you need a PCI ATA controller card or a Rev. 2 or 3 Rom chip. As to which IDE bus is which; IIRC, with the back of the MOBO facing "away" from you, there are 2 IDE connectors, a SCSI connector and the Logic Board power connector all grouped together in the back right corner. The IDE connectors are numbered,(I don't remember the exact numbers) but they start with a "J". The numbers are in numerical order and the smaller number "MUST" be used if you are using only 1 IDE device in the Mac as it is bus "0" (not the letter o) usually reserved for the boot drive. The other IDE connector is bus 1, for the CD drive. The Beige's with the optional Zip drive have a SCSI Zip, as does my Beige MT, due to lack of support for slave drives. Now, what I would do is pull everything out again and put a known good drive with a bootable system on IDE bus 0(smaller IDE connector number), leave everything else out and try to reboot. If it works, proceed to reinstall everything else. All that said, if you want more than 1 IDE device on either bus you will have to a Rev. 2 or 3 Rom chip or an ATA controller card. I'm sure our resident G3 expert, Mr. PeterH will will expand further on this if asked nicely. ;=) -- Rev.
