Certainly, the limitation affects only onboard IDE bus. There is no problem with IDE cards, or SCSI.

The 8Gb limit is only on IDE.

My G3MT has (on orig UW SCSI card, flashed back to ATTO)

1 x 18Gb UW SCSI with 9.2.2
1 x 18Gb UW SCSI with 10.2.6 Jaguar

on IDE Buses
Bus 1 Internal CD-R (Soon to be swapped for a Lite On CD-RW)
Bus 2 Internal 80Gb for general storage.

No install problems at all, and runs sweet as a nut.
