Hi
Spinning off from a reply I had earlier regarding Firewire cd burning, will a
firewire cd burner be faster and more reliable than an internal.
Firewire CDR/Ws are just IDE/ATAPI drives connected via a firewire bridge card. In short, no, firewire drives will not be faster than an internal.
My iMac 600 at work has an internal 8x burner. Would it be cheaper and more
worth my while to get hold of an internal cd burner (say from ebay or new) or
buy an external firewire burner.
Probably be cheaper to try to find an internal off of eBay or the swap list. But, check around. Pricegrabber and pricewatch are both good sites to find the best prices.
Is USB burning at 8x on my iMac 400 possible?
IIRC USB limitations mean that at best 2-4x burning is possible.
Is Firewire burning at 8x on my iMac 400 possible?
Sure. Even faster I think.
