Apple designated F12 to open keyboards on anything that does not have its own eject button. My Pismo, my BW G3, the iMac I used to have ... F12 works on them all.

Try pressing the F12 key. I have seen this work on some non Apple keyboards.
You could also see about programming that key or another one to open and
close the door.

I've just replaced my Sawtooth with a MDD and have now
ended up with a small problem...

I bought it second hand and had the option of buying an
Apple Pro keyobard but declined, but have since found out
from the seller that the only (?) way to open the CD/DVD
drive is via this keyboard... ?!?

I know I can open the drive by holding down the mouse
button during startup or via iTunes, but is there no other
way to do this ?

If not, are there any alternative keyboards ?
