I purchased an ATTO ExpressPCI (Single Channel, UW) card via eBay with the hopes of connecting a Fantom external SCSI drive (UW3) to my beige desktop G3 (Rev 3) running at 500 mhz (Sonnet), 768 MB Ram. The PCI card was recommended by Micronet (Fantom) tech support in order to accommodate the 68-pin connection on the drive. The problem:
I get a GRAY screen with the PCI card installed (with and without the new [terminated] drive attached). No other SCSI devices attached. I cannot boot from CD, either. Spoke with ATTO tech, he says card built with both MAC and PC firmware, might be because it won't work with G3 architecture? I have tried all tricks and troubleshooting advice from ATTO and Fantom website. STILL GET GRAY SCREEN! Any suggestions out there? -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
