Was that HD initialized? Booting from Norton's CD should not make any difference, as: 1) the card is recognized at power-on time by the MacOS ROM, and 2) the drive is mapped to a SCSI drive, and Norton's special version of MacOS can see any mounted SCSI drive which has been initialized.
