I have both the "mini" USB drive and Zip drives. Since I have started using the "mini" drive, I have not touched the Zip. The USB has the advantage of being "multi-platform" and most do not need drivers for use on a Windows box. A benefit for me since I must use a Windows box at work. The newest variation of the USB I have seen use memory cards (SD,Flash, etc). This might be worth looking into for you as you could use any extra memory cards from your digital camera.
