My Beige MT (G4/450), 768Ram, OS10.2 stays on most of the time, so it was a little alarming when I noticed the other morning that when I started Safari, the home page didn't display. The cable company talked me through resetting the modem and everything seemed to be working fine. However, later that evening, after coming home from work, I noticed that, if I left Safari (or any other bowser) idle for 3-5 minutes, I could not go to another page and if I initiated a download, the download would stop after 3-5 minutes. The bottom light on the modem showed that I was in contact with the cable company but I had to restart the machine in order to reconnect.
Over the next 24 hours, I watched the lights on the modem, to see if I could pick up any kind of pattern. A few times, but with no pattern, I would click on a link and the bottom light on the modem would out and then reconnect itself. Sometimes, I would have to restart the machine and sometimes, not.
Another call to the cable company produced the following response from their Tech Support, "It's either your ethernet port or your operating system". I chose the lesser of two evils, I reinstalled 10.2 and decided to put 9.2.2 back on for a couple of app's that I cannot
use in 10.2.
Here's the mystery. After reinstalling 10.2, it seems to still have the same problem BUT if I reboot into 9, I can surf and download to my hearts content.
Any ideas as to why it seems to act up in X and not in 9?

Thank You,
