I just thought I'd gamble and see if anyone had a solution here. Does
anyone know how to get faster speeds than 5k from the internal modem
installed in my B/W G3? I tried turbo internet, and that worked for about

was back at 3-4k, and never more =(
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If turbo internet was reporting 8-10K download speeds it was flat-out lying. 3-5K is about average for 56k modems on average phone lines. That requires a really clean connection. Remember, 56K will never get higher than 51K absolutely max, and 41-48K are far more common connection speeds.

The basic things to do are: make sure all connections are tight, and you have good wiring in your home. After that you're at the mercy of your phone company...there are no magic solutions for speeding up modem access. Unfortunately in the relentless drive to contain costs most of our local Baby Bells have found that things like system upgrades and maintenance were ideal targets for cost cutting.
