Can anyone suggest an off-brand (PC?) DVD-R/RW,CD-R/RW
that will work on a Beige G3 DT?
Most likely external, so I don't lose my internal bootable options.
I'll need to install a USB/Firewire card as well, so any comments on that are welcome.
I'm basiclly wanting to pick this stuff up cheap at Comp USA.

I got a cheap firewire card from OWC. $19, works well, at least with my video camera, which is the only device I've used it with.

Check the mechanism in these devices, if it's a Panasonic, then it's the same as a Superdrive. Lots of the PC cheapos are actually DVD+RW/CD-RW which is a different standard.

There are probably reports on various mechanisms at <http://www.xlr8yourmac.com>
