The correct "M208FULL.BIN" file is 128 KB, and one of these is floating around the 'Net.
(The "M208FULL.BIN" file found on http://homepage.mac.com/... is incomplete, as the accompanying doc correctly states). With the correct "M208FULL.BIN" file, a "single step" FLASH is possible. The bare minimum FLASH disk for the 7000 series, 32 MB or 64 MB, contains: FLASHROM.EXE, FLASHROM.ROM, M208FULL.BIN, and DOS4GW.EXE, in addition to those files which are automatically installed by DOS's "FORMAT /S" function (COMMAND.COM, etcetera). Nice to have files are: PCIDET.EXE, and Manual.txt. Note that there are actualy several M208FULL.BIN files: A 188.33 MHz GPU and a 188.33 MHz DDR RAM M208FULL.BIN file, a 166.67 MHz GPU and a 188.33 MHz DDR RAM M208FULL.BIN file, and a 166.67 MHz GPU and a 166.67 MHz DDR RAM M208FULL.BIN file. It is my belief that the "generic" M208FULL.BIN file, which is the one which is usually found on the 'Net, is the first of these. Here's the deal ... If the GPU becomes too hot to the touch during operation, then you probably have a 166.67 MHz GPU, and you will have to FLASH the card using the two-step process: 1) set the GPU and DDR RAM speeds, and 2) FLASH the Mac ROM image; or you will have to locate the proper one-step M208FULL.BIN file which has already had the CGPU and DDR RAM speeds set (see above). If the DDR RAM chips state -5 or -50 or -6 or -60, then you must FLASH the card for 166.67 and 166.67 MHz. If the DDR RAM chips state -4 or -40 or -36, then either 166.67 or 188.33 MHz is fine, as to the DDR RAM, and 188.33 MHz is certainly recommended.
