So IF I was to replace the AV card this is where the new one goes (when I have ripped the old one out)? But the above from the specs says that Firewire cards should go there as well. Shouldn't those go into the PCI slots?
No, Firewire cards are PCI cards. I didn't notice that the personality card list showed firewire. NO firewire card like that has ever been made to fit that slot.
Essentially, there's nothing current that fits in anything but the PCI slots.
