External modems usually have (until recently) RS232 serial ports, as on
PCs. I have a cable that connects the Mac ADB port to this. This is just a
pin-to-pin cable, no logic inside unlike ADB to parallel.
Probably depends on what device you want to connect, serial cables often
only have a few of the pins connected, so a serial printer cable is
different to a serial modem cable.
