Many weird issues here... let me dredge up a definition of "carbon lib" from my cob-web covered memory of OS 9. The carbon lib was designed to be an initial compatibility extension with the original versions of OS X. Or something like that. One thing I know for *sure* is if the carbon lib extension was off, or out of date, it could cause all kinds of havoc.

In your case, I'd consult the tech support of the folks who made the Zif upgrade. Perhaps there is an extension update for the drive of the zif card... A clean install would get you back to normal no doubt, but it's a bit of a stretch this early in the game. Check with the Zif makers.

My addled brain cannot figure out what is wrong. I had a G-4 Zif installed last week. all seemed to be going well, then I noticed the extension was lot loading as it had been. Very noticeable icon. I went to Extensions Manager and noticed it and many others had been turned off. I activated it, it refuses to stay on.

My printer icon has a great big X through it. I cannot see my CD when I put a disk in there to reload. I went online to both Apple and HP and downloaded the updates to both 9.2 and the printer driver. They want to Stuffit, when I tried to install I am told cannot find "carbon lib???"

I put in my Stuffit Deluxe CD in and cannot find it on the desk top. I am trying to contact the friend who installed the Zif for me, and have been in touch with the manufacturer who is trying to assist me.

Any ideas? Please be aware, I know how to use my computer, I am not technically inclined.
Thanks,
Teresa
