Eric,
Thank you. This morning a friend who had previously come here talked me through a few things. I have not yet tried to see if "carbon lib" is active, but I did move some extensions from disabled (including the Zif one) up to active, and also the one for my printer.
On restart both are active. I have not solved where the conflict may have happened, but for the moment some things look ok.
We tried to do a clean install from my system 9 disk, but as I am running 9.2, I was not able to do that. I cannot find my 9.2 disk. So my addled brain is still impacting both my computer and some gold jewelry I carefully hid from harm, can't find that either.
Thanks again, I am sure I will be back. Teresa
Hmm. I have caught bug that addled my brain more than once. Clean install rituals are smoother for me using Conflict Catcher. Their method requires you to be running on the new system on the HD. Then the CC checks the new and old, followed by a display of what to move. I have both 9.2 & 9.1 and I use 9.1 always. Happily I spend 98% of the time in X. I've crossed over. I still would urge buying DW asap. Just a worry wort.
Eric
